A Florida woman was shocked when she discovered her car was completely destroyed by two dogs trying to reach a cat hidden inside the engine.

Christie Barr, from Jacksonville, was shocked when she woke up and saw her vehicle destroyed, according to a report from WJAX-TV. The necessary repairs could cost about $3,000.

“I thought someone had taken an air gun and shot at my car,” the woman told the channel. She called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and investigators who reviewed the security camera footage found the four-legged culprits.

The incident occurred around 4 AM last Sunday (24), after the neighbor’s cat hid behind the engine. The crazed dogs began attacking the vehicle, damaging the front bumper, fenders, and two tires.

The security camera video shows them tearing off metal sheets to get around the wheel, leaving deep tooth marks in the car’s frame. “If they could do that to the metal of a car, they would destroy a human being,” said Barr.

The cat survived the chase, according to Barr, who is certain it wouldn’t have if the dogs had managed to catch it. “I have no doubt that if they had caught that cat, it wouldn’t be here today,” she said.
